Tillandsia duratii

Tillandsia duratii

Tillandsia duratii

Detailed Description

Tillandsia duratii
This epiphyte from South America is unique in Its form and floral beauty. Tolerant to a wide variety of environmental conditions, it’s a true air plant that has little in the way of roots but is made up of soft, gray-green narrow leaves that curve and curl at the ends. In its native habitat, this curling allows the plant to cling to the branches of the supporting tree. The inflorescence emerges as a long spike from which fragrant lilac blooms appear at the tips. The flowers are long lasting and have a delightful scent. It likes a sunny exposure and is often found growing in the tops of the trees. We recommend regular misting for moisture but it can also withstand periods of extreme dryness. This low maintenance, easy-to-grow plant emerges with new growth after flowering is complete. Over time Tillandsia duratii can become a large specimen. This is a 9-12” bareroot plant that's shipped with a 5" tall terracotta pot as shown in the photo.

Hardy to Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.

Full to partial sun, grows to 8-12" in container, minimum temperature indoors 60°, blooms in spring.
