Solanum wendlandii "Giant Potato Vine"

Solanum wendlandii "Giant Potato Vine"

Solanum wendlandii

Detailed Description

Solanum wendlandii “Giant Potato Vine”
Showy clusters of 1-1/2" blue flowers emerge on the tips of this Costa Rican climber throughout the summer months. Like so many in the potato family, it’s a vigorous grower that flowers better in full sun with only moderate fertilizer. The leaves and stems have thorns so plants need to be handled with care, much like a rose. Once established, plants are quite resilient and take a hard pruning with ease. It creates an attractive flowering specimen when grown on a trellis or obelisk.

Hardy Zone 10 and higher for outdoors.

Full sun, grows to 3-6' in container, minimum temperature indoors 50°, blooms in summer.
