Sambucus nigra 'Haschberg'

Detailed Description

Sambucus nigra ‘Haschberg’ “European Elderberry”
Large clusters of small fragrant flowers appear and the dark-purple-to-black fruit ripens in late summer. ‘Haschberg’ is a self-fertile European variety known for its huge clusters of sweet, tasty fruit. Elderberries can be made into jams, jellies, juice, wine or pies. It is a good plant to include in a backyard wildlife habitat since birds also enjoy the berries. Sambucus nigra is a medicinal plant. The berries contain antioxidants and flavinoids considered to be antiviral with immune-building properties. Elderberry syrup is sold to treat colds, coughs and upper respiratory problems. Our “European Elderberry” ‘Haschberg’ is hardy to zone 4.

Hardy Zone 4 and higher for outdoors.

Full sun, grows to 4-8' in container, minimum temperature indoors 30°, blooms in summer.
